Hurry, Hurry, Drive the Fire Truck

Today we read the book If I Could Drive an Ambulance written by Michael Teitelbaum and illustrated by Isidre Mones and Marc Mones. We would like to say Thank You to Mid-County Fire Department for bringing their fire truck to CLC today! We were able to climb inside the fire truck and the firemen showed us all of the tools they use in an emergency. They also put on their fire gear so we could what equipment they used to stay safe. During our music and movement time, we stretched our muscles with firefighter yoga. Then, during our math and cognition lesson, we put on different community helper uniforms. We talked about the colors on the uniform and items they wear to help us identify them as a safe person. Next, during our science and sensory lesson, we filled our sensory bin with community helper figurines.  Finally, for our fine motor and literacy lesson, we practiced tracing lines and writing words!
