Bubbles
Today we read the book The Sand Castle Contest by Robert Mensch. In this book a boy named Matthew enters a local sandcastle contest while on vacation. The winner of the contest gets a bathtub filled with ice cream! Matthew is exceptionally skilled at building sandcastles, and his creation is so realistic that the judges mistake it for a real house, complete with sand chairs, a sand refrigerator, and even sand food. To win the coveted prize, Matthew must prove that it’s all just a big pile of sand. First during our math and cognition activity, we counted ice cream scoops. Then, during our science and sensory activity, we used bubbles containing different colored food coloring to paint. Finally, during our fine motor and literacy activity, we listened to a book on tape.
